About Us

On the coastline of Coles Bay and neighbouring Freycinet National Park in Tasmania/Lutruwita, Edge of the Bay is a place to capture peace. It was imagined by a family who had a vision in the 1970’s for a retreat where people could stay right on the water’s edge, with nothing between them and the dramatic view of the Hazards mountains.

Today, Edge of the Bay offers travellers the chance to escape the present and escape into the wild across its protected acreage. Self-contained Vintage Chalets sit among sheoaks and contemporary Ocean View Studios open onto Great Oyster Bay’s shores. Dine at The Edge Restaurant with a menu of locally-sourced delights. Enhance your stay with guided experiences and wellness activities amid the glorious Freycinet Peninsula location.

We’re proud to source produce for The Edge Restaurant directly from local growers and makers. This not only reduces food miles, but also strengthens our community ties and supports local economies.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Palawa people, who have lived in deep relationship with this Country for over 50,000 years. Here, on the east coast of Tasmania/Lutruwita, beside an ancient living site that still breathes with memory and meaning, we pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to the generations yet to come.

This isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to listen.

The winds, the waters, the ochre-stained rocks and the stars above carry the stories of ancestors and the enduring spirit of this land. Everything here is connected. People, plants, animals, land and ocean.
